Ashtanga uses breath (ujjayi - victorious breath), postures (asanas), bandas (locks) and dristhis (focused gaze) all at the same time compiled in a fantastic flow. This means 8-10 hours of practice compiled into 1-2 hours. This is why the results are most effective.
